Greetings on the 100th Anniversary of NTN's Founding 28 February, 2018 Press Release

I would like to express my appreciation to you all for the kindness you regularly show to NTN.

NTN celebrated our 100th anniversary on March 1st. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you for your long-standing patronage and support, without which we would not have reached this mark.

In 1918, NTN started research and development on ball bearings, which was indispensable to industrial development at that time, moving on to launch a new business.

Together, with the frontier spirit, the coexistence and co-prosperity spirit valued by our founders, Noboru Niwa and Jiro Nishizono, we have risen above various difficulties and developed our business with you. The spirit of our founders is embodied in our corporate philosophy of “contributing to international society through creating new technologies and developing new products.”

The environment surrounding society and business is changing drastically. Even if we develop ourselves, it means little unless society grows as well. In these times, NTN is focusing on make a “Transformation” in order to carry through the next 100 years and continue to contribute to society.

In Hollywood movies, we see cars and airplanes transform into robots. They transform, not change. Resources are the same but become completely different things. We take heart in our ability to fully demonstrate our potential and contribute to society, even in a new form that may be different from the past.

We have launched a communication keyword through our 100th anniversary activity: “Make the World Nameraka*. NTN” We are putting out products including bearings on the market that move machines smoothly. I believe NTN's mission is to continue smoothing the lives of people and society around us.

I sincerely hope that we will continue to develop together with you towards the “development of a smooth society” and thank you for your continued patronage and support.

* “Nameraka” means “Smooth” in Japanese.
